The University Press of Mississippi (UPM) has long been committed to producing the highest-quality scholarship simultaneously in print and electronic form. We are especially pleased to become a part of Oxford’s UPSO initiative as a key step in further broadening the reach of and access to our digital content.
By working with new technologies and distribution partners that are forward-looking in their approach to scholarly content, the Press strives to disseminate the best in scholarship as widely as possible for the benefit of scholars, students, and readers. The UPSO initiative is a key part of an integrated strategy for digital publishing that will allow us to reach a wider audience, nationally and internationally, with electronic book offerings. UPM firmly believes that electronic scholarly content is just as important as the companion print book for the purpose of communicating information in the humanities.
As university presses approach a digital future, we must reach a diverse community of readers with content that is highly searchable and linked. Accordingly, we are very pleased to launch Mississippi Scholarship Online with titles in many of our core areas of focus, which include history, African American studies, literature, music, folklore, and especially comics studies. Each day we work to advance the scholarly conversation in these and other disciplines, and we are excited to reach readers worldwide with some of the latest thinking in critical fields of study.
