This chapter describes events in Gray’s life from 1974 to 1993. These include Gray’s consecration as bishop on May 1, 1974; his participation in the 1978 Lambeth Conference in England; his involvement in a lawsuit against the Mississippi History Textbook Rating Committee and the Mississippi State Textbook Purchasing Board; and his election as chancellor of the University of the South in spring 1991.
