This introductory chapter sets out the book’s main purpose, which is to find the stylistic devices that characterize Kubrick’s last six films, and understand whether they are also present in the adapted novels. It then discusses the narratological approach used in the present study, which follows two directions: first from books to films; and then vice versa. An overview of the subsequent chapters is also presented.
