This chapter describes the work of Wallace Daniel Pennington, a sound engineer/aspiring singer/recently successful songwriter who was on the staff at Fame Studios at Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Directly and indirectly, Wallace would introduce Chips Moman, a fledgling studio, and some incipient ideas to the attention of the entire South and then to the larger world. The discussion also includes recording sessions with Jerry Wexler and Wilson Pickett.
