Relevance and Renewal in a Changing Genre
This chapter examines the revamp of Guiding Light in 2008. Guiding Light migrated to a dramatically different production model, which included taping the show entirely with digital cameras, substantial changes to studio sets, and featuring several scenes a week taped on location. The producers also modified the storytelling approach to match the on-screen changes. Staff and viewer reactions to the changes are considered.
