This chapter examines the views of African Americans of Wiregrass County on how the repetition of cultural performances complies with a cyclical time orientation. It explains that Baptists have historically utilized Fifth Sundays to hold district meetings and proposes the consideration of Fifth Sundays as significant dates for cultural production among African Americans. The chapter also discusses the function of the Sunday meetings in the socialization of youth into adulthood.
