This chapter looks at factors that contribute to hazing among black Greek-letter fraternities and examines how hazing differs from pledging. It also discusses how bonding and respect among participants are influenced by tradition and acceptance of abusive acts and how intrinsic values through the practice of hazing are formed during membership intake. It considers the attitudes of both undergraduate and alumna members toward hazing in relation to their organizations’ principles of brotherhood/sisterhood, leadership, achievement, scholarship, and community service.
