Or Creolization with an Attitude
This chapter explores the religious creolization practices by the espiritista bruja(witch healers). It explains that religious creolization has stemmed from the institutionalization of a religion by a colonial hegemony. This creolization process was said to have been a form of “ritual piracy” resulting from irreverent appropriations or plunder of hegemonic religious symbols, rituals, and gestures.
