In Medium, the main character Allison Dubois is a psychic who dreams about past, present, and future crimes, and who uses those dreams to help the district attorney’s office solve crimes. This chapter explores how time is used in varied, flexible ways throughout the series, and how this use of time makes Medium unique within its genre. Although Medium has formulaic elements that align with its genre of an episodic crime drama, its paranormal devices employ narrative time to engage issues, such as the ethics of changing the future and morality, often left to other genres.
