This chapter explores the longstanding struggle between labor leaders and business owners in the Southern states, and the role of the Southern press in the struggle. It argues that newspapers are often on the side of management, using the tactics of fear, race-baiting, and communist witch-hunting. It adds that newspapers are silent on the issues of Southern labor and labor relations issues, leaving the public unaware of the struggles of the Southern laborers.
