The University Press of Mississippi was founded in 1970 and is supported by Mississippi's eight state universities. UPM publishes scholarly books of the highest distinction and books that interpret the American South and its culture to the nation and the world. From its offices in Jackson, the University Press of Mississippi acquires, edits, distributes, and promotes more than eighty new printed and digital books every year.
Mississippi Scholarship Online (MSSO) provides access to hundreds of titles in disciplines across the humanities and social sciences. Partnering with UPSO to host these monographs via the UPSO platform is one of the many ways in which University Press of Mississippi connects the eight public universities of Mississippi to the global academic conversation, serves as the Voice of Mississippi Scholars, and serves the academic community in the state and the research needs of students, scholars, faculty, and librarians worldwide.
