This chapter provides a biographical account of the life and work of pioneering cartoonist Gene Day, one of the earliest Canadian cartoonists to bridge the mainstream/alternative gap. The chapter documents Day’s early work for alternative and ground-level publishers and his subsequent transition into work for Marvel Comics, in the 1970s the preeminent mainstream comics publisher.
