These include the advent of a new era in Guyana politics in 1926; Webber’s continued battle against the Colonial Office and the government; the Colonial Office’s plan to wrest political control from the hands of a greatly expanded black electorate; the electoral victory of the Popular Party; and Webber’s opposition to the retrograde constitution the British wanted to impose upon Guyana.
