This chapter focuses on the family bond between TopNotch the Villain and other rappers in the Mississippi Delta, particularly his DA F.A.M. group. It explains that TopNotch is considered by his peers as a role model, and as an accessible and positive person because of this brand of “real talk.” The chapter also discusses the challenges faced by TopNotch in his early years in working in the cotton fields to keep his family fed and to buy his school clothes.
