This chapter describes American’s move to Atlanta. The last official session at American, according to the session books of Reggie Young, was for their songwriter friend Paul Davis, on May 15, 1972. On June 1, the Memphis Music Awards were held, and the group received a special plaque honoring their contributions to the Memphis music industry. American Studios in Memphis finally ended at 9:27 AM on June 2. The next day, June 3, they led the moving van on to the Atlanta studio location.
