Attachment to the Coast
This chapter explores how deeply attached the Louisiana coastal residents feel to the idea of place. Louisiana started as a European settlement, and over time it changed in a different way to the rest of the U.S., giving it a certain meaning for those who called the Louisiana coast their home. The gradual loss of land along the Louisiana coast was painful for the people living there as this place served as the backdrop, or even played a role, in numerous significant events in their lives.
