“The Gospel Train Is Coming”
Wiregrass Contemporary Gospel
This chapter discusses the singing unions and anniversaries common to contemporary gospel music devotees in Wiregrass County. It explains that the main context for these gospel musical performances is in celebration of a group’s anniversary and that performances depend on reciprocity. The chapter also mentions that while these performance communities held fund raising concerts, the “glitzier” contemporary gospel musicians tend to be more successful in proximity to state capitals.
