This chapter examines the period from 2006–2010, which coincided with the onset of a crisis in global neoliberalism. The discussions cover the St. Lucians’ election of the United Workers’ Party (UWP) into office on 11 December 2006; the decision to switch diplomatic relations from China to Taiwan; sovereignty and political confusion after the death of UWP leader John Compton; and St. Lucian sovereignty and independence in the period of global neoliberal crisis.
