Grant Morrison

Marc Singer

University Press of Mississippi

This chapter discusses Grant Morrison’s participation in the 1990s in the resurgence of the superhero comics. Morrison was said to have pioneered the “widescreen” approach, which featured high-concept ideas and action on a grand scale. This chapter adds that Morrison further revived the superhero culture through the publishing of his graphic novel series, Flex Mentallo, which featured a comic book character living within the world created in his previous work, Doom Patrol.
