This chapter describes events in Andy’s life in the 1950s, including his marriage to Jocelyn Clopton on October 15, 1949 and his employment as a checker in the loading department of F&M Schaefer Brewing Company. It also details the black struggle for better representation and recognition in New York City, and the increasing black population and worsening discrimination and segregation in Brooklyn.
