This chapter begins with a discussion of how many Curacoan composers had wrote works in exile. It goes on to deal with a brief discussion of social and historical circumstances of Curacao changing from an agrarian to industrial society with the coming of the Shell oil refinery up to the social unrest of the nineteen sixties culminating in the riots of May30, 1969 in Willemstad. It also portrays the intelligence officer activities of composer Wim Statius Muller.
